1. Who we are

HouseFairy (“we”, “us”) is an early-stage project operated by Leo, based in South Africa. We are the data controller for the personal data described in this policy.

2. What this policy covers

HouseFairy is currently in development. At the moment, this website only lets you join an early access list. We do not yet offer an app, accounts, or payments. This policy covers the website at housefairy.io and the early access list. We will update it before we launch any product that collects more data.

3. What data we collect and why

Your email address (early access list). When you submit your email in the “Join Early Access” form, we collect that address. We use it to:

• send you updates about HouseFairy’s development;
• let you know when we launch and share any early-bird discount;
• occasionally invite you to give feedback on the product.

We do not send unrelated marketing, and we do not sell or share your email address with anyone for their own purposes.

Website usage data (analytics). We use Umami, a privacy-focused analytics tool that we host ourselves. It records anonymous information about visits, such as pages viewed, referrer, browser, device type, and approximate country. It does not use cookies and does not track you across other websites. Because it is self-hosted, this data is not sent to a third-party analytics company.

Video playback data. The homepage includes a video served by Mux. When the video loads, Mux may receive technical information such as your IP address, device and browser details, and playback performance data so it can deliver the video. See Mux’s privacy policy for details on how it handles this data.

Server logs. Our hosting provider (Cloudflare) may automatically log technical data such as IP addresses and request times for security and to keep the site running.

4. Legal bases (EU/EEA and UK users)

• Consent: we process your email address because you chose to submit it. You can withdraw consent at any time (see section 7).
• Legitimate interests: we process anonymous analytics, video delivery data, and server logs to operate, secure, and improve the website. We keep this to the minimum needed and it has little impact on your privacy.

5. Who we share data with

We do not sell your personal data. We use the following service providers, who process data only on our behalf:

• Loops (loops.so): stores your email address and sends our emails.
• Mux: delivers the homepage video.
• Cloudflare: hosts the website.

Some of these providers are located outside the EU/EEA, such as in the United States. Where that happens, we rely on appropriate safeguards, such as the EU-US Data Privacy Framework or Standard Contractual Clauses, where required.

We may also disclose data if the law requires it.

6. How long we keep your data

• Email address: until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete it, or until we stop the project, whichever comes first. If you have not opened or engaged with our emails for 24 months, we may remove you.
• Analytics data: anonymous and kept in aggregate form.
• Server logs: kept by our hosting provider for a short period, in line with its own policy.

7. Your rights

If you are in the EU/EEA or UK, you have the right to:

• access the personal data we hold about you;
• correct inaccurate data;
• ask us to delete your data;
• restrict or object to our processing;
• receive your data in a portable format;
• withdraw your consent at any time, without affecting earlier processing.

The easiest way to unsubscribe is the link at the bottom of any email we send. For any other request, email hey@housefairy.io and we will respond within one month.

You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.

8. Cookies

This website does not set cookies for analytics or advertising. Third-party content, such as the Mux video player, may use technical storage needed to play the video. If we add cookies or tracking tools in future, we will update this policy and, where required, ask for your consent first.

9. Children

HouseFairy is built for business users and is not intended for anyone under 16. We do not knowingly collect data from children. If you believe a child has given us their data, contact us and we will delete it.

10. Security

We take reasonable technical and organisational steps to protect your data. No method of storage or transmission is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.

11. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as HouseFairy develops, for example when we launch the product. We will change the “Last updated” date at the top, and if the changes are significant, we will let early access subscribers know by email.
